How To Become a Lake County Schools Volunteer

  1. Review the Bullying & Harassment Information for Substitutes and Volunteers information.
     
  2. Click on the following link to complete an online Volunteer Application or to log back into an existing application. Note: If you have previously completed an employment application, you will need to create a separate/new User ID and Password.

  3. Contact the School Volunteer Coordinator at your school of choice and let the School Volunteer Coordinator know you have completed your online volunteer application. You may find the contact information for a specific school volunteer coordinator by clicking the link below.  Note: If you will be volunteering at one of the district's conversion charter schools, you may be required to pay the fingerprint fee. You must contact the school Volunteer Coordinator prior to being processed as a volunteer.

  4. You will receive an email from the district regarding your application and volunteer level. Note: If you have not received an email, log on to your online volunteer application and click the email history tab to obtain the email.
     
  5. Log in to your online volunteer application for status approval OR contact the Volunteer Coordinator at your school of choice.

Level 1 Volunteer:

Florida Department of Law Enforcement background clearance required.

Duties assigned within the presence of a LCS employee including, but not limited to:

  • Chaperoning daytime group field trips
  • Assisting in a classroom or at the school site
  • Assisting with a district-level department or program

Level 2 Volunteer:

Fingerprinting is required in order to conduct a State and National background clearance.

Duties assigned outside the immediate presence of a LCS employee including, but not limited to:

  • Chaperoning overnight field trips
  • Mentoring
  • Volunteer (non-paid) coaches

Level 2 volunteers will be notified via email if fingerprint registration is necessary.

Fingerprinting:

The Lake County School District requires fingerprint screening according to State and Federal Guidelines. Interns and Volunteers may be fingerprinted at the District Office or at an approved fingerprinting site.

Important Information: If the person registering for fingerprinting enters their Social Security Number or Date of Birth in error, the person will be responsible for the additional cost of a reprint.

Register for Fingerprinting 

  1. Two forms of ID are required at the time of fingerprinting:
    • A.) Acceptable Primary IDs include:
      • State-Issued Driver’s License
      • State-Issued Non-Driver’s License ID Card
      • US Passport ·Military Identification Card
      • Work Visa with Photo
    • B.) Acceptable Secondary IDs include:
      • Credit/Debit Card Bank Statement
      • Electric Bill
      • Birth Certificate
      • Citizenship or Naturalization Certificate

Once you have registered for fingerprints, print out the registration confirmation and bring with you to your appointment. This will be found on the last page of registration. If you do not have a printer, write down your registration number to bring with you the day of your fingerprint appointment.
