Today's Choice for Tomorrow's Future

Assistant Principals

Mr. Daniel Torres

It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal of our beautiful new Lake County campus, Lake Pointe Academy.  I am truly honored to accept this new role and look forward to continuing to work with our stakeholders, in an effort to advance the achievement of all our students on campus. Working together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students with a truly enriching school experience.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2008 from Florida International University, and furthered my education in 2015 when I received my Masters in Educational Administration. During my thirteen years in education, I served in various roles, such as elementary and middle school teacher, resource instructor, and most recently, as the instructional dean and ELL coordinator at Sawgrass Bay Elementary.

My goal as Assistant Principal is to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment committed to the safety and success of ALL students. I am confident that Lake Pointe Academy will be a place where students learn and grow, both academically and socially.

Go Blue Jays!

Ms. Katherine VanBeek

For the past five years, Katie served as the Instructional Dean, Interventionist, and Testing Coordinator at Leesburg High School. Prior to that, she spent seven years in the classroom teaching Technology, Culinary, Careers, and Drafting for levels K-12. She entered the education field untraditionally with an industry certification after graduating from University of Florida with a degree in Construction Management in 2005. A former teacher encouraged her to try teaching. Once she spent time with students, she knew being in a school was the place for her. She completed her Masters in Educational Leadership in 2015 from University of West Florida and has continued to learn as much as possible about the education field.

Ms. Vanbeek grew up in Leesburg and loves all that Central Florida has to offer. She and her husband, Simon, have 3 children: Lila(12), Linley(9) and Beau(5). They enjoy the beach, Gator athletic events, and family movie nights. Personally, Katie loves to travel, crafting, matching family outfits, decorating for the holidays and home improvement shows. She looks forward to creating new memories at Lake Pointe Academy.
